October biking got off to a great start today. Weather was almost perfect (warmer being prefect) as I rolled out on my Lynskey R300 bike at 11:14 AM. Before starting I visualized the route and came up with a different 7 miles. Normally I loop through Sherwood Trails and back to Hunters Ridge but today I didn’t return to Hunters Ridge until the end of the ride at 1:52 PM. This happened on what I call the “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route. In those 7 miles I rode on streets and greenbelt trails in these Kingwood villages: Sherwood Trails, Elm Grove, Greentree, Sand Fork. Some of the greenbelt trails have been a long time since my last visit.
Changing the start of the route ended up with me biking 33.66 miles, about a mile and a half longer than usual. This is a good start towards my 615 mile goal for October. I need to ride 19.84 miles each day to get there and today gave me a small cushion. The goal is lower than September because there may be some days when the temperature is below my 60 degree threshold.
I used the foam windscreen on the GoPro Hero 7 Black camera wrapped around the camera frame. The audio was slightly better but not to the level that I want. For the next ride I changed the mic setting back to “Wind” and look for something to shield the mics.
The PowerPod provided power readings during the ride since I am back to using the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt computer which connects easily to the PowerPod. It required an Out & Back calibration at the beginning of the ride but after that it sent data to the Bolt. The charts below do not include heart rate because the PowerPod didn’t connect to my Tickr Fit but I uploaded the profile with that connection for the next ride.
I recorded a new personal record for a Strava segment on part of the different starting route along Kingwood Drive.
