The Great Austin to Shiner Pedal – Austin, TX

Shiner Beers is going back to its roots in anticipation of the Spoetzl Brewery’s 100th Anniversary. Shiner BASH was formerly Shiner GASP, which was the Great Austin to Shiner Pedal, and the beginning of Shiner’s biking history. This year we will be returning to Shiner’s past and once again have Shiner GASP, one Great bike ride from Austin to Shiner.

Cyclists will depart from Austin and ride 90 miles through small towns and scenic byways on the way to the historic Spoetzl Brewery in Shiner, Texas.

Cyclists will begin their trek at 7 a.m. from Austin.Website

  1. this ride used to benefit the American Cancer Society and previously also had starts in Houston and San Antonio, all merging in Shiner. I’ve done it before but now as a cancer survivor, I am disappointed that a few thousand riders won’t be doing it from those cities. Seems as if the organizers didn’t want to or couldn’t handle the logistics,of which I’m sure there are many

  2. Say, does anyone have a name/phone number for the race director or organizer of the Gasp? I lost my cell phone and am trying to track it down. Have emailed using the generic email address on the site, but nothing in response.

    Oh, and apparantly the Shiner people are in a conflict with the local catholic church over the festival, and that’s why it was scaled back this year. Maybe the catholics will realize the huge loss of revenue to the town and the big ride will be back next year?
