July Monthly Ride Report By Rick Ankrum, on August 4, 2009, 9:33 pm July was hot and dry in southeast Texas. Rain was a forgotten event. This plus staying in town most of the month set the stage for hitting my monthly goal and then some. No organized rides this month. My schedule and distance to rides did not line up. July is the month we normally take a vacation but that has already happened and the next vacation will be after the Hotter’n Hell Hundred in Wichita Falls in late August when we will take a trip to Colorado, my first time to visit that state. My total miles for the year at the end of July is 3211.
Other highlights for the month:
- rode 20 days out of 31
- average mile per ride = 28.92
- longest ride = 55.12
- shortest ride = 21.30
- M800 mountain bike miles = 0
- Mercier road miles = 578.44
- goal for July miles is 531
- goal for August is 532 miles

About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
