Front Almost Caught Me, 54 Mph Gusts
North was where I headed on today’s bike ride. Rolling off at 11:10 AM on my Canyon Endurace bike I followed my “Kingwood – SH 242 – Kingwood” route riding 35.54 miles by the time I arrived back in Kingwood at 1:49 PM. These mile pushed my week total to 175.19 miles within reach of another 200 mile week.
The video setup was almost the same as yesterday with the GoPro Hero 7 Silver below and out front of my Wahoo Bolt computer. I didn’t use the foam wind muff on the Silver camera to experiment with the sound level and background noise. My Hero 7 Black was the handheld camera just like yesterday. Bike ride data overlay used the same template. I may design a different overlay template. The mileage in the video does not reflect the whole ride but the total of the clips in the video.
Today was a quick ride with my average speed up to 14.9 mph as I rode back to Kingwood. This was fortunate because about 25 minutes after I finished the ride the cool front blew through with wind gusting to 54 mph at Bush Intercontinental Airport and 15 mph at my home weather station which sits among houses and trees. The temperature dropped from 88 degrees when I finished to 69 after the front. Weather at the start 84 (80% humidity, 76.5 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind SE 7 mph; finish 88 (69% humidity, 77 dew point), mostly cloudy, wind N 8 mph. My kit would’ve been chilly if I had not beat the front back home. I didn’t expect it to arrive for several hours. Tomorrow morning the temperature could be in the 50’s if I start the bike ride before 9 AM. I may bundle up and ride as soon as it gets to 60.
My month goal passed. Now the question is how far do I exceed it.
Looking at the ride data in the Golden Cheetah program 65% of the ride my power output stayed in Zones 2 through 7. 6% of the ride I hit zones 6 and 7 for a total of 8:52 minutes and seconds.
