By Rick Ankrum, on July 27, 2010, 2:17 pm Recently there have been a number of comments about the Bike Around Midlothian bike ride. This got me to thinking about what do I look for in a bike ride. There are many rides I look forward to and there are some I ride once and never bother to return. From my experience here is [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on January 5, 2010, 10:36 pm With the weather turning cold and no daylight when I get home the last resort is the trusty Cyclops windtrainer. Thanks to my recently purchased Garmin Edge 305 with cadence I am able to record information I only dreamed about. I do not try to smoke the rear tire and no stand-up sprints but I [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on January 4, 2010, 1:23 pm I pressed hard to ride the first two days of 2010. My wimpy cut-off temperature of 60 degrees was never reached so I bundled up and hit the road with my Garmin Edge 305 recording my timid efforts. Friday was 25 miles and Saturday netted 20 miles. About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
