After yesterday’s electricity interruption concern about a repeat today during Zwifting went away as the ride progressed. Outside the weather was sunny but the mid 50’s temperature fell below my 60 degree threshold.
The ride began at 12:00 PM but rather than a time limit like most of the rides I’ve done before this one showed a distance of 22.2 miles (I actually rode 23.16 miles). I wondered how long it would take me to cover that distance, especially after the leader D.T. mentioned the mountain in the last part of the course. He didn’t mention the 12% climb up the mountain or the the other mountains during the lead up to the leg killer. I climbed more on this ride than any previous Zwift ride and rode the longest time at 1:49:04. I rode a longer time and distance on a Rouvy but that route was flat.
322 fellow sufferers rode the mountains around the Zwift Innsbruck World. For the early portion of the ride I held around the 240’s but when the mountains arrived I moved up 30 positions or so. The mountains slowed me down but I did not stop. Sometimes I rode at 3 or 4 mph and the Wahoo Kickr Snap smart trainer made turning the pedals hard, very hard. The effort is reflected in my 12.7 mph overall average speed. The route profile below shows the mountain at the end of the ride.
Thursday most likely will be another Zwift bike ride with the forecast of maybe 60 degrees.
COLLEGE STATION, Tex. (KBTX) – VeoRide representatives say they’re working on system modifications to keep the bike share program in Aggieland.
Texas A&M Transportation Services announced the contract with VeoRide was ending on December 31 and would likely not be renewed because of things like unsafe bike antics and bikes blocking sidewalk access.
Monday night a VeoRide representative told KBTX they are …
After trying to bike into downtown Georgetown via Leander Road a couple times, Kim Rouston said she decided it was just too dangerous.
The only place to safely ride a bike on the route from Rouston’s home is the sidewalk, which stops and starts along various sides of the road, she said. One must continuously zig-zag across the street and at one point go through a school campus to stay on the sidewalk.
“There’s no way to safely go down this street and into town,†she said.
The city of Georgetown hopes to change that.
Officials are working to install infrastructure ahead of city and county growth to …
Like many people in the modern era who are privileged enough to have a smart phone, electricity and mobility, I take a lot of pictures. Some good, some not, a few great. Who’s to say, though? If you like them, great. If not, move along. Trouble is, I don’t use that photo platform named after your grandmother, so when I’m riding my bicycle and take a pic, it goes either here, on my Strava fitness app (follow me there if you’re a bikester) or doesn’t see the light of day. Occasionally I post a blog with a lot of photos and some words to explain them. This is one of …

All was going as planned until about 10 minutes into the ride the electricity burped and I lost the computer connection to the internet and Zwift. It took about 10 minutes for the internet to come back, router connect and computer get back online to rejoin the ride. The video starts with me waiting for riders to come by. When they do it is out of nowhere.
Outside the weather was not suitable for bike rides: 50 degrees and raining. Earlier I selected The Herd’s Tuesday Social Group Ride to begin at 11:55 AM. As the start neared I gathered all the stuff I needed during the ride, started the OBS program to record the ride, started the ceiling fan, connected all of the sensors to Zwift and waited for the ride to begin. The riding time was 60 minutes but thanks to the electricity outage I only captured data and video of part 2 of the ride. I looked for another ride to join but they came later than my time allowed.
Wednesday the weather forecast looks below my tolerance threshold so Zwifting will be in the house. Hopefully the electricity stays on.

WASHINGTON (BRAIN) — Trek is recalling 2,840 of its 2017-2019 model Super Commuter+ 8S e-bikes because a front fender bolt can unthread causing the fender to fall into the front wheel.

Consumers are being told to immediately stop using the recalled bicycle and take it to a Trek retailer for a free inspection and repair. Back in September I was preparing to turn left when a driver almost hit me head on. That driver then made their own left turn nearby. Thinking I could get them to pay closer attention in the future, I followed the driver and spoke with them. (I’ve already heard from many people that this was my mistake. Let me say that I think talking to most drivers is worthwhile but you only need one crazy to make it not worthwhile…) The driver escalated fast, pulling out a screwdriver and thrusting at me at one point. I honestly thought he was going to stab me. Because I was straddling my bike, I couldn’t easily go anywhere aside from towards him. After he …
