I delayed the start of today’s ride because I wanted to be sure my DVR recorded the Giro d’Italia stage 1. In years past my options to watch this race disappeared. Last year our local channel 39.3 carried Universal Sports Network but they dropped it earlier this year. So this morning I searched Dish Network [...] I wanted to get started early today but I did not get out of the driveway until 10:14. The timing turned out to be good. Later on as I biked north on the US59 service road and stopped at the North Park Drive traffic light I experienced a touch of celebrity. As I stood waiting [...] I got an earlier start today leaving at 9:34AM. Thursday morning vehicle traffic was light so I altered my route slightly and stayed on W. Lake Houston Parkway until I turned left on Aerobic Ave. and into Walden on Lake Houston. This fit my time better because I wanted to get back home by 11:45AM. [...] |

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling. My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there. Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
