Early Start (for me) Bike Ride to May Center
Earlier start for today’s bike ride leaving at 10:08. Okay, that is not really early but it is for me. I chose the ‘May Park Community Center – Huffman” route but changed the sequence of roads again like last week’s bike ride. I biked 42.09 miles which a couple more than usual for this route because I rode a few extra streets to get the mileage over 40.
The weather:
The wind seemed stronger than the 13 mph reported from the airport because I pedaled hard whenever I rode into it. Looking at the watts reading on the Elemnt it would shoot up to 200 or more. Riding with the wind the watts were around 80 or less.
A 15 minute rest stop at the Huffman Chevron allowed me to cool off some and refill my water bottle. A Kashi trail mix bar provided the energy for the 15 miles to the end of the bike ride. As I left the station the wind was chilly blowing through my wet jersey making it feel lower than the 79 degrees the sign company’s rolling sign showed. When I first stopped it showed 80 degrees.
With the reversed street directions in some places I am starting to remember the cracks and bumps to avoid standing when I ride over the bigger ones.
Good weather in the forecast for Wednesday and I could start earlier than today because the Critérium du Dauphiné stage is the ITT and it is not my favorite. I will watch the highlights when I get back.
