We return to our regularly scheduled warmer weather.
We return to our regularly scheduled warmer weather. Nice to start the bike ride in the mid 70’s after several days in the 60’s. For me, a few degrees make a difference. It began at 10:57 AM riding my Canyon Endurace on the New Caney – Roman Forest Blvd – Oakhurst route. I don’t ride this route often but the roads crossover in a number of other routes. This was the 6th time in 2023 and slightly longer distance (34.93 miles) than the other 5 rides due to going through Tavola West and a longer loop through Brooklyn Trails. I rode on the unopened Loop 494 bridge over Caney Creek again. This avoids the frontage road from FM 1485 north and is much quieter. The wind was light at the start but the ride back from Roman Forest Blvd. was into a south 10 mph wind with 20 mph gusts. In spite of the wind I built the overall up 14.2 mph and held to Kingwood Drive. I wore a light long sleeve jersey and a short sleeve jersey. On the way to Roman Forest Blvd. I thought maybe I could’ve just wore arm sleeves but the clouds increased and the wind made it feel cooler. I finished at 1:45 PM.
Strava top results: 2nd fastest time on North by Northpark (1:52) and 3rd fastest time on Kris Spraggins Memorial Route (2:26).
