Little known fact: when Santa visits Houston, he uses a cargo bike (it’s much more efficient than flying).

Finally replaced my broken mountain bike yesterday.
Revel Rascal bought at Velorangutan.
A week ago I made a joke to the wife about a brand new car (she shot it down). So then I joked about a brand new bike (and I was very specific).
I didn’t think she would actually order a bike for me.
I went into Velo to check on Rascals. They said they have to check on inventory and get back to me.
They connected the dots and realized my wife had just ordered a bike. They tried to help make it a surprise. They were trying to go out of their way on this Christmas surprise.

CLAY COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — A Wichita Falls man has now been indicted in Clay County on two counts of criminally negligent homicide after the deaths last June of a well-known couple in the local bicycling community.
On June 1, 2023, Lisa, 49, and Charlie McBride, 63, were struck by a pickup while riding their bikes on F.M. 2393.
Michael Luttrell, 50, told investigators he was traveling south on 2393 and did not see the Mcbrides before striking them from behind. …

The McBrides were killed after being hit from behind. They were hit while cycling on FM 23-93 by a vehicle driven by Michael David Luttrell.

Following practice on Thursday, the Texans surprised 100 students with bikes and helmets at NRG Stadium.

Each December, the Texans give away hundreds of bikes to area children just in time for Christmas. The players also mingle with the children.

Kelvin Reed, 47, and his son Judah, 9, walked along the newly opened section of The Trinity Forest Spine Trail and marveled at the mountain bikers soaring off hills at a training ground nearby.
“When I was a kid I grew up in the Spanish apartments,” Reed said. “And all of this was like dumping grounds, some walking trails maybe. But it definitely wasn’t developed for anything like this.”
Reed and his son, who both love biking, scouted the location before …

For the past ten years, the Mora-vation ministry has been giving toys and gifts to families in the Alamo City and this year was no different.

The 2024 Marfa Marathon at Cibolo Creek Ranch has been canceled. As of Dec 22 there were 12 people signed up. We are two weeks out from when the event was scheduled. The prospect of enough people signing up to make the race worth (let alone break even) the ranch’s time, the food vendor’s time, and the promoter’s time was slim at best. We’ll try again in the future. Everyone who signed up has been issued a full refund and should start to see those dollars returning to their respective accounts in the coming days.

We hear people all the time saying there is nothing to do in Midland and Odessa so when we come across a gem we didn’t know about, we have to share it.
A few years ago Altitude Trampoline Park opened in Odessa and most recently Urban Air and the Little Gym opened in Midland. We all got our hopes up thinking Water Wonderland would be resurrected to discover that it was demolished and turned into a commercial property.
There are all kinds of little hidden gems around the Basin that you may not know about. I recently discovered …
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – A digital billboard near the intersection of West Alabama and Shepherd has some walking and cycling advocates upset, saying the placement of the billboard is creating a hazard. The board is supposed to make navigating the area easier but seems to be doing the opposite.

So, the day after my OTB at Aledo, I decide to get back on the horse and do Marion Sanson Park, but just the green line. Still skiddish from the fall, it was a nice ride in the woods. Very pretty views and decent trail for a green line, hate to see the blacks though. Will come back later for more. This video is a little late cause I was …
You may find a few surprises in here. Most of them are in places that we thought would be too cold for mountain biking in the winter, including Wyoming, Canada, and Minnesota, but it looks like the riders in these locations think differently
…Spider Mountain Bike Park – Burnet, TX
Despite the common saying that everything is bigger in Texas, Spider Mountain stands as a unique exception. It proudly holds the title of being the first and only bike park in North America with year-round lift-accessed trails. However, it distinguishes itself by its modest vertical drop of just 350 feet from top to bottom, making it one of the more compact bike parks in the running. Nevertheless, if you happen to find yourself in central Texas with a day to spare, a visit to Spider Mountain is a must.
AUSTIN (KXAN) – Two Austin men are accused of stealing more than $100,000 of high-end bicycles and parts from the storage unit of famous cyclist and former Austin resident Lance Armstrong, according to arrest affidavits.

I haven’t been riding much at the far reaches of WC over the last year, sticking closer to the trails near the Lincolnshire entrance.
Late yesterday afternoon, I did Inner and Outer Log Loops and headed over to the BMX Loop. First, I got semi-lost on the way over, ending up somewhere in a tangle of social trails at the end of Severe Consequences.
When I got close to the entry trail to BMX Loop, I noticed a guy approaching on a bike with squeaky rim brakes and a nice front basket, blasting music. He dismounted and started walking his bike up the trail, so gave him …
