Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Tour d’ Temple 100 kilometer Bike Tour – Temple, TX

Frank Mayborn Convention Center, 3303 North 3rd St.

Welcome to the Tour d’Temple 100K. It will be an exciting and challenging tour through beautiful Bell County. Routes have been chosen for their scenic beauty and safety while providing a challenging ride for all levels. Ride start is at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center just off IH-35, approximately 30 miles South of Waco and 70 miles North of Austin. Highway signs will direct you to the complex.

Ruta del Mescalero 200kms Bike Ride – El Paso, TX

This is our Fifth annual 200 km bike ride From El Paso TX. to Mescalero Nm. (Close to Ruidoso Nm.) It is a group ride from El Paso Tx. to Tularosa Nm. and turns into a Race from Tularosa (elev. 1385) to Mescalero (elev.2313) we will have prizes for the first finishers as well as King of Mountain Jerseys.

PEDAL TO PADRE – Brownsville, TX

EVENT CENTER, BROWNSVILLE, TX 1 EVENT CENTER BLVD (PAREDES LINE RD).

Starting at the Brownsville Event Center and making our way to Port Isabel, we will continue with a group ride over the Queen Isabella Causeway to Schlitterbahn Waterpark. We will join together for post ride activities and a meal. Those who wish to purchase discount tickets can enjoy an afternoon of fun in the sun at Schlitterbahn. Distance: Approx. 35 miles (extra 15 miles for faster riders)

Registration fee – $20 (before 4/28/07) $25 (after 4/28/07): $20.00
RIVER ROCKETS MEMBER DISCOUNT- $15 (before 4/28/07) $20 (after 4/28/07): $15.00

Castroville Annual Veterans 100 – Castroville, TX

Castroville Regional Park , 831 Alsace Street.

The 2007 Castroville Annual Veterans Ride (CAV) offers a scenic tour of the historic Medina County rural countryside. The tour will start at the Castroville Regional Park in Castroville. The purpose of the ride is to honor our veteran’s and their families. We invite everyone to come and ride. We have several distances from which to choose. All proceeds will go to the LCpl Rhonald Rairdan Memorial Scholarship fund.

Children (Under 15): $10
Adults: $25

A staggered start begins the ride at 8:00 a.m.; the 100 mile ride is first, followed by the 67, 40, and 25 mile rides. The 10 mile family ride will leave last. Website
