Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Spindletop SPIN – Beaumont, TX

The 2nd Annual Spindletop Spin bike ride benefitting the Jefferson County Pro Bono Program will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2007.

Individual – $30
Family Ride (12 mile): $25 for 1st parent, $15 for 2nd parent, Minor children ride Free

7:00 am….72 mile ride begins
7:00 am….45 mile ride begins
7:30 am….10 mile ride begins
Lunch served…11:30 am – 1:30 pm or until the last rider is in.

Pedaling the Prairie – Katy, TX

Wild Ride! Bike Rally – Richardson, TX

Join us on Saturday May 19th, 2007 for one of the most fun bike rides you have ever ridden. It’s the 4th annual WildRide! Bike Rally – the ride renowned for its overabundance of food and fun at the Finish and Start! Choose between 11, 18, 40 or 64 scenic miles (route subject to change) and bring the family! This ride, sponsored by the Richardson Regional Medical Center Foundation, is held in conjunction with the 15th annual Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival in Galatyn Park on May 18th-20th. Wildflower! which was recently named “Best of the Fests� by D Magazine, is the area’s premier arts and music festival, drawing more than 50,000 visitors featuring national headliners.

Hamilton Hill-Aceous 100 – Hamilton, TX

Saturday, May 12, 2007, with rides starting at 8 a.m. The separate 7-mile children’s ride will begin at 9 a.m. The start and finish will be at the north entrance to the Hamilton Airport, located just off US Hwy 281 about 2.5 miles south of the square in Hamilton and just west of the intersection of US Hwy 281 and FM 3302 (the main entrance to the airport is on FM 3302, about.3 mile west of US 281). There are highway signs to direct you to the airport.

There are routes for everyone from youngest to oldest, slowest to fastest, with 7 mile, 20 mile, 30 mile, 46 mile and 63 mile (metric century – 100 kilometers), ranging from fairly flat to challenging “rollers� on the 63-mile course.

Cost: Prior to Sunday, May 6, $25. Family members two or more $20 each. Tandem riders team registration is $30 and special 7-mile children’s ride $10 per child 12 years and younger. Registrations received by May 5 will receive e-mail confirmation (if provided). Registrations postmarked after May 5 add $5 to registration fee.
