Pro races continued. I watched stage 1 of the Itzulia Basque Country on GCN+ before starting today’s bike ride. While I was doing that I hoped the weather would warm up a few degrees. I chose my “Kingwood – SH 242 – Kingwood” route heading north along US59/I-69. This would be the second ride on this route in 2022. While I get ready I go over the streets of the route. Sometimes I “tweak” the order (which I did today), add or subtract a road or two. The previous ride was March 2nd. I rolled the Cervelo Caledonia out the door and pushed the start button at 11:22 AM. By the 2:06 PM finish I rode 36.31 miles (SportTracks says 36.32 miles). Those miles improved my YTD mileage to 1,457 but I am trailing the YTD miles in 2021 by 120. Today’s ride was slightly longer distance than march 2nd, faster average speed, higher average heart rate and watts.

The 149.1 miles for the month so far equals 23% of my 650 mile goal. Not too bad after 4 days in.
The number of RD gear changes increase significantly from Saturday’s ride with 35 today versus 7 on Saturday. I didn’t mistakeningly use the left paddle to shift today. Muscle memory starting to kick in?The AXS.SRAM.com activity report shows 1:28:09 riding time in the 35×13 gears with 53:00 in the 35×15 gears. At times the 35×13 was hard with the wind and small inclines. Total riding time was 2:42:25.
The weather changed today, overcast, stronger wind and lower temperature. Weather conditions: start 71 (humidity 91%, dew point 68), overcast, wind SE 12 mph; finish 74 (humidity 84%, dew point 69), overcast, wind SE 14 mph. I wore a kit with the same elements as Saturday, just different colors. The Bellwether LS jersey fabric is warm enough that I can eliminate the wind jacket.
