Work beginning this week on Flower Mound trail project

Crews will begin working on the Pink Evening Primrose Trail Connection project this week, the town of Flower Mound said in a news release on Monday.

The $915,000 project includes the installation of an eight-foot-wide, 150-foot-long pedestrian bridge over Timber Creek near Gaston Park on College Parkway. Crews will also add 400 feet of multi-use trails to connect Gaston Park to the nearby River Walk and Timber Trails Park, according to the town.

The project will affect portions of Gaston Park, though the playground, basketball pad and parking lot will remain open. It is expected to be complete in April 2022.

Waller DA files six felonies for ‘rolling coal’ crash that injured six cyclists

A teen who struck six cyclists while allegedly blanketing them in black smoke along a Waller County road faces six counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to lawyers representing the injured riders.

“One for each of the people he almost killed with his reckless and violent behavior behind the wheel,” Rachael Maney, spokeswoman for Bike Law Network, said in a statement.

Waller County District Attorney Elton Mathis presented the case to a grand jury last week, with the recommended charges. …

Kansas native says New and Old Testaments combine to give life lessons

MIDLAND The Rev. David Chisham says faith in Jesus Christ not only bodes well for eternity but also for the here and now.

“Some people feel that the only point to faith is that we get to go to Heaven when we die, but Jesus’s resurrection means for us that he is alive and at work among us today,” said the Rev. Chisham, new pastor of the First Christian Church at 1301 W. Louisiana Ave. “He can transform our priorities and relationships and give us hope for living.”

Chisham is a 50-year-old native of Wichita, Kan., who earned bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at Abilene Christian University and Drew University in Madison, N.J., before serving as a minister in Arlington, Va., Rockville, Md., and Baton Rouge, La. He and his wife Kori have one child.
