Bike Ride Edinburg Texas Municipal Park: Video starts from Sprague and Closner boulevard (Business US Highway 281) to the municipal park and around the bike trail and then leave park to Raul Longoria Rd. to Freddie Gonzalez Dr. to Closner Blvd to Library. Video is part of a longer ride. Parts of video are double speeded up.
Includes one of my most miserable 40 miles of continuous riding into the wind that blew at 15-20 mph around 50°F. I was tempted several times to just turn right and go home.
Showing Dave Dana Peak…This is my second time here and I love it, its so fun, fast, and flowy… it really is pretty cool. We did Twin Peaks, Parts of Super Mario and Goat Trail and connectors in between. Not that it was a race, but it is pretty challenging to keep up with an E-Bike like the Repeater, but I am getting better keeping speed up

WSP will provide engineering services for the 3km I-35 Capital Express Central Downtown (CapEx-C Downtown) Corridor reconstruction through downtown Austin, Texas. The firm was awarded the contract by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
WSP will provide plans, specifications and estimates (PS&E) for downtown segment, which forms part of TxDOT’s US$4.5 billion, 13km I-35 Capital Express Central Project.
The project will boost safety and mobility throughout the CapEx-C corridor. The work involves lowering the existing I-35 roadway and adding non-tolled high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in each direction, connecting downtown Austin communities by reconstructing east-west cross-street bridges and a redesign of the CapMetro Red Line crossing at 4th Street to connect to the Austin Convention Center. It also includes adding pedestrian and bicycle paths, and designing the infrastructure support for the “caps” funded by the City of Austin and the University of Texas at Austin, which could include deck parks to serve neighbouring communities. …
The bumpy, sometimes harrowing ride along lower Westheimer could be a bit smoother by the end of the year, after transit officials agreed to commit an additional $2.3 million to make a bus project benefit more drivers.
The work, however, worries supporters of long-delayed plans for a slimmer Westheimer, preferred by many in the neighborhood.
Metropolitan Transit Authority board members approved on Feb. 29 a change to a …
… That work between Montrose and Bagby, at an estimated cost of $24.5 million, would take Westheimer down to one lane in each direction, with a continuous turn lane, while widening sidewalks. At some locations, the street would have medians for pedestrian and bicycle crossings where Houston’s planned bike paths cross the street, similar to those along the controversial 11th Street rebuild. …
Art and bikes: a match made in Austin! On March 9 the Downtown Austin Alliance and Ride Bikes Austin are hosting the third annual Arts & Parks Tour, part of the joint Writing On the Walls program.
Along the way, riders will discover stunning artworks, enjoy live performances, and explore the beauty of Downtown Austin’s parks, all while riding alongside a …
INSANELY WINDY going out, so I decided to reverse the direction of my normal long loop to take advantage of the strong West component of the wind. I also decided to add the old Gaddis Bluff “Race loop” outside of Comfort to get a few more miles. All things considered, the ride was fantastic, and ???? ???????? performed exquisitely. To quote The Grinch however, I hate, despise, and loathe entirely ending up with an average speed of 17.9mph. Silly or not, I’d rather have an average of 17.8mph!? As always, I’m thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for saving me both spiritually, and physically enabling me to return to this sport that I love. I thank Him for another safe ride without any mechanicals or flats.
I planned on riding my Cervelo Caledonia bike on the Community Drive – Cumberland – Forest Cove route. But as I rode through Woodridge Forest the wind changed to the north and the temperature dropped a few degrees. The sky to the west still had some gray clouds and I thought the temperature would go down more. As I exited Brooklyn Trails I made the decision to turn left and ride back home. After I finished the ride that turned out to be a wimpy decision. The wind didn’t get much stronger and the temperature didn’t get cooler but warmed up. A front will arrive later today but I thought it was here. Maybe I wasn’t that into riding today. I got a Strava PR on Soaring Woods to Northpark (1:50) though.
LEVELLAND, Texas — In a heartwarming display of generosity, one student, Julian Guerrero, at Levelland High School went above and beyond to help a peer in need. (The recipient’s family preferred he remain anonymous, but expressed gratitude for Julian’s selfless act).
It was Random Acts of Kindness Day at Levelland ISD in mid-February, and Julian recognized that his classmate was walking to and from school because his bicycle had seen better days.
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -Thousands of bicycle helmets were given away Thursday in hopes of inspiring our kids to practice bike and sports safety.
Second graders from across the Brazos Valley came out to the annual Hard Hats for Little Heads event at Reed Arena. Hard Hats for Little Heads was created by the Texas Medical Association in 1994 to educate children about how to prevent head injuries.
Texas ENT & Allergy, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Texas A&M Athletics and Texas Medical Association, along with supporting sponsors want to encourage child safety.
“Kids need to stay active,” said Dr. Andrew de Jong, a board-certified otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon. “You’ve heard the recent statistics about 1 billion people in our world are obese. We need to stay active but they need to stay in school. We’ve got this …

Mountain biking in the Palo Duro Canyon does not disappoint! I mentioned the canyon is about 120 miles long but, I also said 900 miles deep! Whoops, about 900’ deep. Sorry for the error! The first day I did a quick ride as I got into town later in the afternoon. Today, I had plenty of time and put together a 12.5 mile loop which was a blast. The terrain is awesome and the temps in March were superb. I can imagine it can get toasty in the summer though so plan accordingly! I rolled the Ibis Exie again today and it’s perfect for the trails I rode. There are …

North Texas schools are gearing up for Bike & Roll to School Day on May 8, with preparations in full swing to ensure a successful event. Organized by the National Center for Safe Routes to School, this annual celebration aims to promote safer active transportation options and provide traffic safety education to children.
Schools have until March 29 to register their events for a chance to win giveaways and new bikes, which will be raffled off to students to encourage safe bicycling to school. The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is spearheading the initiative this year, offering various incentives to boost participation.
NCTCOG plans to hold raffles for safety-themed items for schools and bicycles for …
