Riding around Watopia proper including downtown Watopia, Fuego Flats, the Italian Villas, the Volcano, and the Fishing Village. Lead-in is 1.5 miles and 19 feet elevation gain. Full route is 17.3 miles and 331 feet climbing. Last time I rode this route was January 8th, 2024. This was my 13th ride on the Watopia’s Waistband course since I started Zwifting. Today I rode faster than the last 3 times though there aren’t many sprints on the route. Not a big crowd riding Zwift today. I wasn’t alone on this route with people passing and standing at various start locations.
For the week of February 12 – 19 I was a bike every day for a total of 168.12 miles. Two rides on the road and five rides in Zwift. For the month road miles total 325 with a goal of 445. This week was the third highest mileage so far this year trailing two 200+ weeks.
A bit of a longer video I know, but good progress and first times today at Brushy, with fast ambient Picnic runs and drops, some Snail #3 #5 #6, and finally the Rim Loop which always seemed daunting to me- done. Unfortunately Dave didn’t quite make the elevated skinny on #6 Snail, kudos for getting back up on the bike fer sure and finishing the day out! Still timid about the drop by the railroad bridge even with the help of Jesus…

A Diboll man died when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle across North Temple Drive around 4:30 p.m. Friday, according to Diboll Police Det. Brad Reid.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, failed to yield the right of way to a small sedan when he entered the roadway, causing the car to strike him, Reid said.
“He got on his bicycle going across the street to the convenience store,” Reid said, noting that the man is elderly, suffers from Alzheimer’s and was possibly having “an episode.”

Riding Stage 8 for the second time because the Watopia Big Flat 8 route is an event only course. 19.6 miles and 357 feet elevation gain. I rode this previously on February 10th. Today’s ride improved on my results from February 10th: better average speed at 17.3 mph and quicker at 1:08:30. I rode the course 4 times overall but the first two were shorter distances for some reason. Strava results:
