About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

After almost 24 years of serving the greater Houston cycling community, Ken Thurlow …

4,000 Miles Biked This Year! + 3,000 Total on Sophie the Fairdale

A DUDE ABIKES | adudeabikes.wordpress.com

Well, I did it! I met my revised goal of 4,000 miles, and I did it 28 days early. I went into statistics a good bit in my recent post, My November Strava Stats; One Month to Go on My 2018 Goals. But this number is icing on the cake. (Which I stopped eating this year along with all kinds of processed grains, and it hasn’t mattered one lick for my weight. That’s for another post.) Anyway, as a fellow rider who is much stronger (and younger) than A Dude commented that he “loves milestone days.” They are pretty special. If the …

(VIDEO) Bikes 4 Angels says goodbye

Over 800 bicycles were donated to elementary schools in Joshua and Burleson and several nonprofit organizations in Johnson County on Wednesday from Bikes for Angels. The bicycles were transported by several community members and volunteers using 18 trailers.

After 12 years of donating bicycles to children in need for the holiday season, Bikes 4 Angels celebrated its last year on Wednesday surrounded by family, friends, community members and volunteers.

Waking up on Christmas morning to a new bicycle can be a fond memory for any child. However, some children have never owned, let alone ridden one before. B4A Founders Rick and Dee Curlee said they wanted to change that. …

Michael Freeman | blog.scoutingmagazine.org

Aaron Light has backpacked at Philmont Scout Ranch, and he’s run a marathon, but his next endeavor will dwarf the mileage he’s previously trekked. The Eagle Scout and University of Texas sophomore will cycle from Austin, Texas, to Anchorage, Alaska.

“I’ve had the experience of pushing myself mentally and physically, and this will challenge both,” Light says.

Light won’t be cycling alone; this 4,000-mile journey is part of Texas 4000 for Cancer, a student …
