Bike-Friendly Forney inaugural city bike ride July 13

If you know how to ride a bicycle, Bethel Strong wants to be your BFF. Or, rather, if you want to ride a bicycle in Forney, Strong wants you to join his BFF – Bike-Friendly Forney.
Bike-Friendly Forney, an organization created by Bethel Strong to encourage cycling and accommodations for cyclists in the Forney area, will be sponsoring a city bike ride on July 13, 2013.

This is a new ride that we’ll start from the old Java Junction. It’s a friendly, mid-pace, stay together ride. It will average around 15-17 MPH. We’ll stop in Gruene at the “Gruene Grind” to have some coffee.
Take 35 North to the 3009 (Roy Richard Dr.) exit. Turn east on 3009. There will be an exit for Bell North Drive.

Central Trail Construction (South) Coming Along Nicely

We’ve been keeping an eye on the construction of the southern extension of the Central Trail.
Central Trail is the trail that runs parallel to Central Expressway, along the DART Rail Red Line tracks. Currently, it starts at Renner Road at Routh Creek Parkway (where it connects to the Spring Creek Trail), and runs south to DART’s Arapaho Center Station – well, sort of. In our opinion, it really stops at about Alma Road, and becomes a sidewalk, along Greenville, until it reaches Arapaho Center Station. Read more about that here.
