A bicyclist was killed Saturday morning on a southeast Houston road, police said.
The driver of a white pick-up truck struck a bicyclist shortly before 9 a.m. on the 12400 block of Galveston Road, according to the Houston Police Department. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities detained the driver, who is being evaluated for possible intoxication, after locating the damaged truck down the street, OnScene TV reported.

A man riding a bicycle died early this morning in a hit-and-run accident on Loop 287’s Moffett Road overpass, according to a press release from Jessica Pebsworth, communications director for the city of Lufkin.
Although no one witnessed the accident, Lufkin police believe it happened just before the first 911 call came in around 3:45 a.m.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states. His identity will be released once family notification has been completed.

Rolled my bike to Sikes Lake this second Saturday of the 2021 version of May. A couple days ago I was at this location and saw a few dozen goslings being herded across the paved trail, heading to the lake. Walkers and bikers stopped to watch and not interrupt the passage.
