Fifth Day on the MTB – November 11th Bike Ride
Today was the fifth in a row of my riding on my mountain bike. I would like to say the aches from changing bikes were all gone and that is mostly true but there are a couple of muscles still getting acclimated. The weather has warmed slightly with 71 degrees at the start and 72 at the finish. The clear skies are still with us but these will probably cloud up some as the wind starts to come from the southeast. During my ride the wind was 2.5 mph from the NNW with some gusts of 4.3 mph if you want to think of that as a gust.
My route continues on the greenbelt trails. I varied the route some today and did not get much dirt except for the trails covered with dirt from the recent rain. The 16.21 miles is the longest route so far this week. Compared to my road rides this is rather short but biking on the trails is a different type of ride. Also my average speed is much lower with today being 11.6 mph and a max speed of 18.0 mph (no going down a hill on the route). Average cadence was 77.2 RPM. November miles are now 180.37 and year to date is 5163.87 miles.
These two pictures from my cell phone show some of the trail scenery. The second picture has a white heron on the bank of the pond. I did not try to get too close so I would not scare the heron.
