I rode north on the New Caney – Gene Campbell Blvd. route. The last time I rode this route was April 17th. I rode parts of the route from different directions. Not sure why I waited to ride again. I rolled out at 10:03 AM on my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike. The clouds from yesterday were gone leaving the blue sky and light wind of 1 mph. Not a problem riding north through Brooklyn Trails then to US59 frontage road all the way to Caney Creek. Looping under US59 I rode back to FM1485 for the 2 miles to Gene Campbell Blvd. Biking was not a problem but the GoPro Hero10 black camera starting shutting down claiming it ran out of battery though the screen showed 82%. This plagued me the rest of the ride. Some of the clips did not have sound for some reason. Not sure what caused that either. I set a good pace building my overall average speed up to 14.2 mph riding SE on FM1314 into Briar Tree, and Oakhurst. The ride totaled 40.06 miles, a good preparation for tomorrow’s Rollin Pearland Ride 51 mile route. I’m getting close to 400 miles for the month with 391.68. I finished the ride at 1:17 PM.

For the first time in Robstown Police history, the department is giving the community an opportunity to recover their bike if it was stolen or missing.

Since taking over Robstown Police Department, Chie Mike Tamez said he noticed there were many bikes picked up by officers. He decided to change the way the department collected and processed evidence such as bicycles.

Rain delayed the start on the bike ride until 11:25 AM. I tried to go earlier but was surprised when I went outside and found light rain. It didn’t last long and the streets dried quickly. Since I didn’t ride yesterday I chose a little longer route, one I haven’t done since May 30th, Atascocita – Walden – Indian Shores Road. I rode my Cervelo Caledonia bike for 39.51 miles, about average for this route. My curiosity got the better of me so I rode the greenbelt along Kingwood Drive passing in front of Kingwood High School to check on the tree limbs and brush blocking the way and found they were gone. That passage will return to my rides when needed. The sky was weighted with clouds as you can see in the video but no rain fell during the ride. Unfortunately the humidity returned to Houston “normal” and the temperature will ramp up for awhile starting tomorrow. Today’s miles pushed September to 351.6 or 41% of the way to my goal. I finished the ride at 2:23 PM.

Kilgore’s former City Manager Josh Selleck struck a deal with the city to donate time and labor for significant improvements to the Bighead Creek mountain bike trail as he moves into the private sector after nearly a decade of city service.
Selleck proposed the deal, which was unanimously approved by the council, at his final meeting as city manager before retiring from city service and moving full time to his local mountain bike trail business, Vanguard Trailworks. The project will involve placing asphalt over a section of the trail known as a “pump track,” a section of hills that allows …
After almost three weeks staying next door from my long-time base of Travis County, I’ve concluded that deespite it’s many faults, Austin, Texas isn’t as bad as it is out here in the suburbs. Maybe the grass is always greener on the other side, but sometimes, the green, green grass of home ain’t all bad, either. Familiarity breeds contempt, but with no protected bike lanes and little connectivity between trails, the quote “better the devil you know than the devil you don’t” applies. (from Trish Doller, The Devil You Know). Some thoughts on this subject follow. PICTURES IN A LITTLE BIT. …
