About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Bike Austin says immediate action needed to protect bicyclists on UT campus

By: Jennifer Kendall | www.fox7austin.com

AUSTIN, Texas (FOX 7 Austin) – Bike Austin and UT students are asking the university to install bike lanes on San Jacinto Boulevard after a bicyclist was killed there last week. January 28, Navy veteran and FOX 7 Austin employee Tony Diaz was riding his bicycle through the UT campus when a Cap Metro bus ran into him.

“UT really has been falling further and further behind in terms of its bike friendliness,” said Chris Riley, president of Bike Austin. Riley said it shouldn’t …

Today was a day that I could have biked, but I didn’t. I could use the sleet and tiny hail that fell on Austin streets today and the cold weather for excuses. But the precipitation didn’t stick to the roads, and it’s not like I’m in Fargo, North Dakota or somewhere actually very cold. With enough layers it can be done. There was my headache, probably due …

NICA Tangle In Troy 2019 Muddy Start

drippingspringsmountainbiketeam.com

The eighth annual Texas Interscholastic Mountain Bike Race Series commenced with a muddy start on Sunday, February 3rd 2019. Despite the sloppy conditions several Tiger racers participated in the NICA race held at the Sacket Ranch in Troy, Texas. There was a big varsity group that was forced to lap slower groups. Sloppy conditions and passing slower riders lead to slower lap times on a normally fast and flowy course. Congratulations to everyone! …

We were expecting to be dodging heavy machinery, but they took the day off so we could ride through. Even though the road was not finished, they left some smooth pavement for us to ride on.
