By Rick Ankrum, on August 20, 2011, 12:21 pm I got an earlier start today in the hope of beating some of the heat. I am not sure I accomplished that goal since it was 95 degrees by the time I got back home after a 41.82 mile ride. It was 82 degrees when I rode away at 7:59AM so over the 3 1/2 [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on August 1, 2011, 1:16 pm Today’s ride is the first one in retirement. My wife gifted us a weekend in Galveston so I did not ride Saturday or Sunday. The plan as to leave around 9:00 AM this morning on a somewhat new route for a 40+ miles ride. Well I left at 9:08AM and the ride was 41.51.miles. Leaving [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on June 25, 2011, 2:15 pm Today was one of those dog days of summer. Let me explain my version of this: 2 dog sprints with a total of 5 dogs. About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
