Rear Cog Slippage – October 21st Bike Ride — 4 Comments

  1. Nice adjustment with the cogs. Your mileage for the month is looking impressive, do you have a particular goal in mind each month?

The same erosion happened to the cogs on my MTB when my last chain broke. I ended up replacing the whole system cranks, chain, and rear cassette. I even splurged a little bit for an upgrade in quality.

  2. Thanks for the complement on the mileage. My goal is for about 600 miles until daylight savings time ends and the temperature starts to drop. Then I will be happy with 400 or so.

I was thinking the crankset gears might need to be replaced but I am going to wait and see. Sometimes there is a silver lining when these things happen and like you an upgrade can be added.

  3. Being retired helps a lot. After resting on Sunday (today) Monday will be time to get back on the road before the cool/cold front arrives on Thursday. Thanks for the encouragement.
