About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

Keith Burgess-Jackson Rides the Paluxy Pedal

Texbiker.net Posted on October 12, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 12, 2008

from the Keith Burgess-Jackson blog

This morning, in beautiful Glen Rose, Texas, I did my 22d bike rally of the year and my 443d overall. At this time of year in North Texas, you can get any type of weather, from heat and humidity at one extreme to cold rain at the other. Luckily for those of us who rode today, the weather was superb. Several hundred riders showed up at Glen Rose High School to ride. There were four courses, with 80 miles being the longest. I wanted to get home at a reasonable hour, so I decided to ride 60 miles, as I did a year ago. The only rider I recognized was my friend Randy, who lives in nearby Granbury. Randy wanted to get home in time to watch the Texas/Oklahoma football game, which started at the insanely early hour of 11:00, so his plan was to ride 45 miles. Judging from the course map, it looked as though we would be together for many miles.

Texbiker.net Posted on October 10, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 10, 2008

from www.malakoffnews.net

Somewhere on a highway between San Antonio and Corpus Christi last weekend God smote me.

And the thing is I was due a good smiting.

Last Saturday and Sunday I participated in the Valero MS 150 Bike Tour. The Valero MS 150 – also known as the “Bike to the Beach” – is a 150-mile, two-day bicycle ride between the aforementioned San Antonio and Corpus Christi. There were more than 3,000 riders involved.

from www.kfoxtv.com

by Arleen Barrios

There are plans to add bike lanes along both sides of Belvidere Street in west El Paso. The bike path would start at the top of Belvidere Street to Mesa Street.

City representatives Beto O’Rourke and Ann Morgan Lily along with the city’s engineering department are proposing the bike lanes in an effort to provide El Pasoans with more transportation alternatives. A public meeting is being held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Dorris Van Doren Regional Branch Library at 551 Redd Road.
