About Texbiker.net

Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.

My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.

Thanks to my late wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.

My primary bike is the Cervelo Caledonia Rival AXS below. My titanium bike is the Lynskey Helix titanium. My newest bike is a Canyon Endurace CF 7 Rival eTap.

The fully illuminated motocross course and surrounding fields at Austin/Del Valle Motorcross Park (ADVMX). The Short Track and Cyclocross races share much of the same course. The vast majority of the course is more than 15 feet wide, very smooth, with no trees, rocks or other obstacles. There are several short and steep climbs and descents, as well as numerous banked turns, but the entire course is extremely safe and ideal for beginner cyclists and kids. There are several well-marked splits in the course, where Cyclocross racers will bear off for run ups, barriers, and Short Track racers will face rhythm sections and other technical challenges. A single lap takes four to six minutes to complete.

Texbiker.net Posted on October 4, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 4, 2008

Join your fellow women cyclists and triathletes for a great weekend of cycling, fun and camaraderie. This is strictly a women’s only trip and we encourage beginner cyclists as well as advanced cyclists to participate. This is purely a fun riding event and no one should feel as though they can’t keep up or won’t be ready for the riding. Each day will have a 20 – 60 mile option for those that want a shorter ride and to enjoy the sights and sounds that Fredericksburg has to offer.

CANNON EXPRESS TOUR Bicycle Ride – Gonzales, TX

Texbiker.net Posted on October 4, 2008 by Rick AnkrumOctober 4, 2008

Welcome to historic Gonzales, where the first shot was fired in the fight for Texas independence. Come enjoy our rich heritage and the beautiful landscapes found where the Guadalupe and San Marcos rivers meet. Rolling hills, oak-strewn fields and winding rivers serve as the backdrop for this unique family ride.

Choose from the metric century ride for experienced cyclists or the short and intermediate 10-, 30-, and 36-mile tours. You’ll find clearly marked routes, ample rest stops stocked with refreshment, and plenty of spotters to provide first aid and mechanical support.
