By Rick Ankrum, on April 4, 2012, 7:18 pm I am beginning to wonder if digging holes for plants in the yard strengthens leg muscles. My reason for thinking along this line: today for about three or four miles I got in a bigger gear than my usual one and my speed stayed above 20 mph getting up 27.6 mph according to the RideWithGps.com [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on March 27, 2012, 4:04 pm A little less sun today as I started my ride at 11:20 but by the end the sun burned some holes in the overcast sky. The mostly cloudy sky held the temperature lower than yesterday at 75 to 81 degree range during my ride. Wind from the southeast at 12 mph did not cause much [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on March 22, 2012, 4:35 pm A fabulous spring day for biking. I don’t know what I could ask for to make it better. Blue sky, 85 degrees and a 10.4 mph southwest wind. About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
