By Rick Ankrum, on February 17, 2011, 8:35 pm No leg warmers were required for tonight’s ride. Compared to last week the 66 degrees this evening was a delight even with the mostly cloudy skies and 12 mph breeze. It was nice to get a ride in again instead of battling the windtrainer. I encountered several other bikers and for a change they all [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on February 15, 2011, 8:30 pm What a difference a week can make. Last week I was huddled around a block of ice trying to keep warm. This week the temperature is in the 70′s during the day and in the 60′s at night. I did not ride last evening since it was Valentine’s Day but tonight I was out on [...]
By Rick Ankrum, on February 12, 2011, 4:45 pm After a week of record cold or close to it today’s 64 degrees, cloudless skies and light breeze were too much to resist. About Texbiker.net Texbiker.net covers the news, events and resources for those interested in Texas bicycling.
My bicycling passion was rekindled in 1979 with a Huffy bicycle from Woolco. From early rides around my neighborhood my enthusiasm grew to tackle my unsupported first century. From there I discovered organized rides all over Texas, races and mountain bikes. Many bikes and miles later the enthusiasm is still there.
Thanks to my wife, Hazel Marie, for her support over the many years, miles and rides.
In 1999 Texbiker.net was born to help my fellow bikers have ready access to all of the information about the Texas bicycling scene.
